Historical Patterns from Memory Project
It goes without saying that designers have a long-standing love affair with pattern design. Like a lot of designers, I never realized that Graphic Design could be a profession until I was an adult. However, looking back at activities I was compelled to do as a child--redesigning packaging labels of household products, re-covering books whose cover designs didn't excite me, recreating logos for favorite bands, being enthralled with textile patterns, etc.--it's now obvious what I was to become.

In an attempt to identify some historical moments of my own design development, I decided to do a project where I recreated some influential textile patterns from my childhood environment. Since these are all developed from memory, I have no doubt they're not very accurate. But it's been exciting to revisit some of these visual memories and notice how they've impacted my current sensibilities. This is a project I hope to continue and expand upon.
